"Yeah," he said, "I read about your death row. How cruel. You wouldn't do that to any other animal would you? You wouldn't lock up a dog that way? Though testing on primates is up there in terms of cruelty I guess. We don't do death row any more, nor do we have prisons. Since the eradication of poverty and basic needs, since society became truly sustainable and balanced, there is no petty crime because folks have what they need. The population has better neural development, more self control, more empathy, better logical thinking... so it's rare that we have a need to call the courts to order. The person in the dock is either deemed capable of hospital rehabilitation or is euthanised. If the courts chose the latter it happens that same day in a way that is as kind as possible. We are pragmatic and compassionate - in your day people were neither."
Our under taking was to become the undertakers of the real villains of this world, the hit men of the ones who choked everything good out of society and left only ashes. So no matter if they lived on skid row or mansion row, they were on free range death row.
Those genocidal bastards had cost us all so much, all we could afford was one bullet each. As things turn out, that was enough. We did the research. We were sure of our facts on each. We went through the list - our encrypted cyber death row - took them down and published the evidence. We weren't good guys. We weren't saints. Heck, we weren't even good enough to take home to meet your mama. We were the predators of the predators, the monsters of the monsters, the bogeymen of the bogymen. We were never going to fit into any perfect world, nor be any angels. So why not go out with a bang, eh? Why not make our lives count for the good guys? Their words are the carrot. Our guns are the stick. We don't care what any terrorist wants, nor why any extremist is extreme, nor any dictator's sob story - if they are evil we find out and they go on our death row.
"Trust me, sister, if anyone is sick enough to get on our death-row hit-list, something we think of as free euthanasia, they earned it in the worst way possible. They're getting a better death than they deserve. We aren't the monsters. Love means protecting others and we are good with who we are and what we do. Peace."
We need to take care of our death-row species because these last minute appeals aren't making the progress they need and time is very much of the essence. Where are the high priced lawyers for the elephants?
