Relax with me this Christmas Eve, for all the year ahead there will be plenty of time for work; it is a big world out there and much of it broken. So rest. Enjoy. Find your happy place. Regenerate so that you can be well in the year ahead.
What makes Christmas Eve special is not the date on the calendar, yet the way we become Santa for one another. We take the time to see souls and their level of wellness or need. We rest in the quiet moment to observe what is rather than allowing the business of the world to put the ones we love into the background noise. We stop. We bring those we love into clear definition and accept their emotions "as is." For come Christmas day we have a chance to reset as a strong group who supports one another, protects one another, and is able to see the gift each of us is.
In the quiet moment, Christmas Eve is a tiny flower in gentle palm, delicate and soft. Amid all this glitter and noise how simple it would be not to see such beauty.
The gingerbread men with their chocolate buttons and eyes are resting on the plate. Soon they will be dunked in Italian style hot chocolate as we sit around the table and talk.
The feast of Christmas Eve is nothing without the feast of emotions, without the knowing that the love we share spreads around the globe to ensure all can feast alongside us.
This Christmas Eve the present moment is our gift. It is those moments when we acknowledge our deep love for one another and let the bond shine bright. It is the time of year we relearn that we cannot see what is truly given.
Christmas Eve is a time for the wealth of loving bonds, to see the "unseen" everything that makes living so wonderful every day of the year.
This Christmas Eve is a time for family and friends, for warm drinks and warm laughter, for sharing good stories and books.
Amid the bounty of the red berries nature has brought, the brightness that warms each bright winter day, we celebrate Christmas Eve. Above all it is a night to dwell on what love is and how we can better learn to follow the example of Christ and not fall to the ways of greed.
This Christmas Eve I feel so very blessed. This year I am thankful for the health of my children and the happiness of my home. And so I open the final window of the advent calendar to find the image of an embrace, of peace and good will. The idea brings a sense of relief, a smile that comes from my soul.
