Never pair a dreamer with a pessimist. In time the dreamer dies and the pessimist is in danger of becoming more rigid and cruel. It's a hellish dynamic.
A pessimist can have a proper place in groups, yet diluted because their effect is so very draining. When they bring a sense of realism that is grounded in science they can offer value as a bad-idea-finder. Too many of them however and every idea will die. Cynicism becomes poison. Our rule is at least nine optimists to each pessimist.
