In those more enlightened times, the new mothers got more than basic medical treatment. We made sure they were alright emotionally too, we talked with them often and kept those loving bonds as their children grew. We had personal trainers, beauticians and hairdressers on our team too. Those new mothers got to look in the mirror and see a woman again, to reclaim themselves after the pregnancy and childbirth. It brought them greater emotional health, and that rippled out into their family relationships too. There is nothing more powerful to raise someone up than by actually taking proper care of them, by showing them they are valued by society, and that's what we did. It changed so much for the better doing post natal care in such a human way.
